Renewable Energy, powered by agriculture.
We’re building Australia’s first farmer-led 24/7 renewable energy solution that works with agriculture to decarbonise industry and transport.
The Kalfresh Bioenergy Facility will be the centrepiece of the new Scenic Rim Agricultural Industrial Precinct on the Cunningham Highway at Kalbar.
It will convert food and farm waste, production residues and rotational crops into a versatile renewable natural gas (RNG) with many uses across industry and transport. The by-product, digestate, can be returned to farms as a bio-fertiliser to grow the next crop.
The project will demonstrate a new renewable energy model for Queensland that is fuelled by agriculture.
It’s new for Australia, but not for the world.
This renewable energy model is tried, tested and working overseas where it’s already powering industry and homes and fuelling public bus fleets for La County Metro, Paris operator bus operator Île-de-France (ÎdF) Mobilités, and buses in Reading, Nottingham and Bristol in the UK, as well as trucks for Amazon, Waitrose, Aldi and many others.
